5. David Krut Projects Cape Town

After an internship at the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) Gallery, I started working at David Krut Projects Cape Town as a Curatorial and Gallery Assistant. As a team of only two or three, I was involved in practically everything, from designing and promoting publications, to hosting exhibitions, residencies and book launches.
 

Ever prioritising and streamlining, duties included creating and updating content for the website, social media and the database; writing and posting newsletters via Mailchimp; creating marketing and communication campaigns for both print and digital platforms; liaising with galleries, artists, publishers, authors, printers, framers and maintaining a happy clientele; general admin such as research, invoicing, sales updates and the packing/crating/shipping of artworks; and ultimately the logistics and production of our events, be they book launches, zine talks or exhibitions.

Primarily an art organisation, the company also supports other projects, such as Occupational Therapist Regina Broenner's workshops with under-resourced communities. As we wanted to extend her reach to communities that she couldn't visit, I translated her content into an interactive illustrated booklet Movement Breaks in the Classroom.
